San Miguel
Barangay San Miguel is situated on a plain across the Balangiga River, west of the Pobalcion. It is traversed on its center by the national highway.
In the Beginning, the Barangay was simply called sitio “Tabok”, meaning across the river. Some of this families originated from the Poblacion and decided to stay after marriage. Those families who came from the Poblacion had relatives there that were interested in developing the geographical size of the barrio for the reason that they also own residential land in the Barangay, because of this 80% of them formed into solid groupand instituted a barrio fiesta with “SAN MIGUEL ARCHANGEL” is the Patron Saint and May 12 is the Feast Day, this statue is from the Poblacion. Year 1984 Family Pajarilla donated an Statue (SAN MEGUEL), and after 20 years Mrs. Mila Elacion Lau donated also an statue.Barangay San Miguel was originated in the year 1962 with 25 families residing in that barangay.
After San Migeul was originated/organized into a unit of Government, Elpedio A. Crilla was favorably appointed as Barangay Chairman by Proceso Camenforte, the Mayor of that time. Elpedio Carilla started his captainship of the barrio yead 1963 to 1972. After 8 yearsthe administration of the barrio underwent different changes. Another Native of the barrio got a unanimous vote duringthe Barangay Election in the person of Felix L. Godes from 1971 to 1981. He ruled the barrio for almost 10 years.
Again, with the election for Barangay Captainson may 17, 1981, the chairman lost in the polls favoring the position to Pablo Elacion. He was very much unlucky to finish his term for he was called by our creator to join him. Automatically, the successor of his place goes to his first Kagawad and it was Calixto Lumagbas. He became Chairman from 1985 to 1991.
Then another election took place in 1991 of May. The first appointed Barangay Chairman of the barrio gotthe highest vote of all the Kagawad and it was Elpedio A. Carilla. So, this is the second term of Elpedio A. Carillaas the Barangay Chairman of San Miguel and Stayed for 3 years.
By 1994, another election again and this time Mrs. Valeria E. Hilaria governed the highest vote, so she became the Barangay chairman of the Barangay up to 1997.
Then May 12, 1997 came with another election for the Barangay and it was Primitivo L. Pajarille who received the landslide vote for the Barangay chairman.
Another election took place last Jly 15, 2002, again, Mr. Primitivo L. Pajarilla as Barangay chairman for his second term.
