Poblacion 6 became a duly constituted barangay pursuant to P.D. No. 86. The place was formerly known as Area 6. It is one of the 6 poblacion barangays of Balangiga. It has a total land area of 31 hectares, consisting of mostly plain terrain. Land uses comprise mostly of residential, commercial and institutional zones. There are creeks, beach resorts, fishing grounds and mangroves. It has a coastal area to its southern portion. It is bounded on the north by Barangay 3, on the west by Barangay 4, and on the east by Cansumangkay, across Can-olao River.
