Poblacion 1

After World War II, the town proper or Poblacion of Balangiga was divided into Areas and this place was called Area 1. Then the Local Government Code took effect and the Areas were changed to barangays. Barangay 1, was created by virtue of PD No. 86, dated December 31, 1972. The first and second barangay chairman was appointed by the Municipal Mayor. The third barangay chairman was already elected with six Kagawad. The fifth barangay Chairman, Hon. Angel D. Balderama is the present Chairman of Barangay 1. He was elected in 1994 and this is his third term. He was elected together with seven Kagawad.  The barangay fiesta is the town fiesta of Balangiga. The Patron Saint of the town of Balangiga is Saint Lawrence the Martyr and is celebrated August 10 of every year. Barangay 1 is one of the 6 poblacion barangays of Balangiga. It is highly accessible by any means of transportation and can reach in 5-10 minutes from the urban center. It has a land area of 310 hectares consisting of hilly and mountainous terrain. Major land uses include agriculture
